How to Hook Up Your 3D Goby Shad
Conventional Jighead
Like any shad, it can be equipped very simply with a classic leaded head and the possibility to add a stinger, as shown on the photo below! It will be enough to vary the lead of the head to adapt to swimming depth! A perfect mount for sawtooth fishing.
Corkscrew Head
Similar to the previous setup, this setup will be mainly used for linear fishing between two waters to track pelagic pikes. Instead of having one hook coming out on the back and having a treble under the belly, this setup allows the angler to mount two treble hooks under the belly, which is effective for pelagic fishing where attacks mostly come from underneath.
Punch Rig
Once again, this is a weighted mount, but this time the ballast is underneath the lure. This will give the Goby Shad a more planing swim, which will be especially useful for fishing on slopes or over submerged obstacles and grass beds. The trebles can also be mounted on the back of the Goby Shad by attaching the splitring to the top ring.
Shallow Rig
Thanks to the Goby Shad’s flat underside, shallow mounting has never been easier. Unweighted, it will allow you to fish in shallow areas or to pass over obstacles and grass beds efficiently in order to catch pike where they hide.
Texan Montage with EWG Hooks
One of the exciting aspects of this lure is the possibility to mount it in Texan thanks to the space provided on its back. In addition, its flat belly will allow you to keep a nice space between the lure and the hook shank to maximize the chances of stinging the fish. It is the perfect mount to go through obstacles, weeds, or to fish crowded banks without fear of losing your lure.
It is a very useful mount in summer when the beds are present! Think about the Weedless EWG hooks, with their paddle that adds a flash signal, they are excellent for pike and fit perfectly with the 3D Goby Shad.
